Paul Reed Smith pays a visit to PRS specialist shop Sound Affects

Sound Affects Music in Ormskirk, Lancashire who specialise in both PRS and Rickenbacker guitars, recently had an esteemed visitor browsing their stock…

None other than luthier extraordinaire Paul Reed Smith dropped in to the shop to say thanks to the store for upping their order of PRS guitars having sold so many of his guitars over a year.

Together with Irish virtuoso guitarist Simon McBride, Smith looked through their wares admiring one of Fender's Road Worn Strats, and eventually decided on a slide.

The legendary guitar builder then gave the shop a brief masterclass in slide techniques on his own guitar that he'd brought along. He's obviously a big fan of the Fab Four too and commented of their 'genius' before purchasing a Beatles songbook too.

'It was a real honour for us to have him in shop, especially on such an informal and relaxed basis,' said shop owner Tim Lobley. 'He is becoming quite a mystical figure in the guitar world, so to just talk guitars with him was a real pleasure and quite surreal. He gave us a few business ideas as well, which we will be sure to take up. We love PRS guitars and we are currently working on a dedicated showroom filled with the everything from SEs to top grade hand picked Private Stocks.'
