Slash has been attacked while performing at a show in Milan, Italy

Ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash was attacked midway through a solo at a show in Milan. As the behatted icon adopted his trademark pose for a Sweet Child O' Mine solo, a crazed fan ran onstage, jumping on the guitarist.

Although a valiant Slash continued to play, his performance was cut short as his Les Paul was broken in the tussle.

On his Facebook page Slash wrote, 'Rowdy crowd for sure. But amazing! The guy who nailed me didn't take me down but he busted my poor gtr. Ah well, it was a kick ass rock show.'

The incident echoes the 2008 attack on Noel Gallagher during Oasis's performance at V Festival in Canada.
