Sad News: Motorhead's former guitarist Michael 'Wurzel' Burston passed away on the 9th July aged 61.


Motorhead's former guitarist Michael 'Wurzel' Burston passed away on the 9th July aged 61. Having been a corporal in the army, Burston began his career playing in various acts including Warfare and Bastard before auditioning for Motorhead in 1984.

He remained in the group for eleven years and recorded six albums with the heavy metal stalwarts.

Burston left Motorhead in 1985 and was never replaced, but continued to playing in his own band Leader Of Down as well as making several guest appearances with Motorhead. 

Burston is reported to have died of ventricular fibrilation brought on by heart disease.
