's quirky exuberance and original designs have drawn in many a rock star over the last 15 years. To toast their anniversary they have unleashed a host of lovely new models for us to get excited about…
Here's what they say…
, which are inspired by the beautifully idiosyncratic Italia guitars of the 60s, feature unorthodox designs, pickup combinations and colour schemes, including the widespread use of innovative pearloid finishes – or, as Trev refers to them, “mother of toilet seat”.
As the brand celebrates a decade and a half of individuality in a crowded guitar market, it now counts musical heroes like Chris Rea, Manic Street Preachers bassist Nicky Wire, Bill Nelson, Marillion, Violet Bones and Kaiser Chiefs among its converts.
Now, for 2013, Italia is unveiling several exclusive 15th Anniversary models, including the Maranello Classic
in gold sparkle with a gold plexiglass fingerboard and the Mondial Classic
in space age metallic purple. Also to be released soon are the intriguing Sonora
models, which take Italia into acoustic and resonator territory, while some existing models will receive some great new finish options.
Italia is also set to introduce the affordable DiVill
by Italia range later in the year, which will include a range of Trev-masterminded models, all with the typical useful features and great specs, but at a price that any musician can afford.
Asked about the burgeoning success of Italia, Trev said: “With Italia, I wanted to do something different, where I wasn't building for other people, and I was in control. And, as with everything in our industry, when you do something new or different, people don't accept it quickly. People looked at Italias at first and thought they were toys, but they're not – they're serious guitars built to professional specs, and we've got some great players playing them. Italia is now taken seriously as a guitar brand, and deservedly so!”
More details on the DiVill by Italia range will be released imminently, so stay tuned – and don't forget to give Italia a try when you're next in your local guitar store!
