John Frusciante has left the Red Hot Chilli Peppers for the secong time via a statement on his website

John Frusciante has confirmed reports that he has left the Red Hot Chilli Peppers via a personal statement on his website. ‘I simply have to be what I am,' writes the guitarist, ‘and have to do what I have to do.' A replacement is reportedly already in place in the form of Josh Klinghoffer. Klinghoffer has already toured with the band (including Frusciante) to promote their Stadium Arcadium album in 2007 and has worked with Frusciante on his solo project as well as Perry Farrell, PJ Harvey and Beck. The band is yet to comment.
