Beach Boys Smile Sessions

The Beach Boys are finally releasing their mythical album Smile.
Although the band's classic album Pet Sounds, had made a huge splash, influencing the Beatles own masterpiece Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, the Beach Boys never managed to completely finish the much-lauded record that was intended as its follow up.
Amid internal fighting and coupled with Brian Wilson's mental health issues the project was abandoned, and although various bootlegs, demos and snippets have surfaced over the years, it's only ever seen the light of day as a solo Brian Wilson record (2004) – Wilson's even gone on record to say he'd burnt the master tapes…
Thankfully, it seems the tapes are all in tip top condition as EMI have announced that they are to finally release the legendary lost album that Wilson has referred to as 'a teenage symphony to God'.
It'll be available to download on iTunes, as a 2-cd set, or in a bumper box set containing 4-CDs, 2 vinyl LPs, 2 vinyl singles and a 60-page book.
The album is intended to be as close as is possible to the original album (Wilson intended it to be released in mono) and will also feature studio outtakes.
The release date is yet to be confirmed.
