This may be a G, but it's no ordinary G! The combination of open strings and notes high up the fretboard means than this chord contains two pairs of unisons, that is, two pairs of notes of the same pitch. This makes it rather reminiscent of a chord on a 12-string guitar. Can you say 'chimey'?
