Finishing Up

Over the next few days as everything settled down I tweaked the trussrod, the action and the intonation. It’s hard to go wrong with maple and swamp ash, but this bass exceeded my expectations.

It sustains for days and the tone has a growling harmonic complexity with plenty of top end, ample low end and a natural ‘compression’.

The pickups captured all these qualities superbly, and the range of tones that are available by adjusting the pickup balance is simply amazing.
